SHE SUPPORTED AND WAS INVOLVED WITH THE $0.01 SALES TAX EFFORT IN 2014 AND THE 2018 BOND REFERENDUM, ALL OF WHICH PROVIDED FUNDING FOR ENHANCED SCHOOL FACILITIES.
HER HUSBAND, STEVE FLOYD, IS WITH US TONIGHT. I WANT TO RECOGNIZE STEVE. WE FORMED A GROUP TO RAISE FUNDS TO DONATE A SCHOLARSHIP TO AIKEN COUNTY SCHOOLS.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT DIANA WANTED TO DO WAS SEE ALL THE SCHOOLS UNDER CONSTRUCTION, PRE-CONSTRUCTION, UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND IN COMPLETION, AND WE TALKED ABOUT GOING TO WAGENER-SALLEY HIGH AND GOING TO THE LITTLE BAKE SHOP OR SOMETHING FOR COFFEY WHEN THAT SCHOOL WAS COMPLETED.
AND SHE NEVER DID GET TO SEE YOUR SCHOOL.
AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL. SO WITH THAT IN MIND, I WAS CLEANING OUT MY GARAGE THIS WEEKEND, AND I FOUND THIS PIECE OF PAPER IN A STACK OF THINGS THAT I HAD WORKED WITH WITH DIANA, AND IT IS JUST AN ENVELOPE THAT I WOULD THROW AWAY AND I COULDN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND IT.
AND THEN I SAW IT AND IT WAS OFF IN HER MEMORY, OFF HER CUFF. AND WE WERE TRYING TO DO THE PROJECT PARADE AND REMEMBER ALL THE MASCOTS FROM ALL OUR SCHOOLS AND I HAVE DOWN HERE, TROJANS, HORNETS, WAR EAGLES. ALL OF THIS DIDN'T MAKE SENSE UNTIL I REALIZED THE THEME

THOROUGHBREDS, MUSTANGS, BULLDOGS, YELLOW JACKETS.THESE ARE THE SCHOOLS THAT ARE IN OUR DISTRICT THAT WE ARE GIVING SCHOLARSHIPS TO.
WE ADDED CAREER CENTER AND SCHOLARS ACADEMY, USC AIKEN SCHOLARS ACADEMY.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE STARTING IN FEBRUARY IS ASK THE PEOPLE THAT WORKED WITH AND KNEW DIANA TO DONATE, SO THAT EACH SCHOOL IN THIS AIKEN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL HAVE A STUDENT THAT RECEIVES THE DIANA M FLOYD SCHOLARSHIP.
WE HAVE ALREADY RAISED $23,000 IN A MONTH, SO WE ARE THRILLED.
WE HOPE TO HAVE A $3,000 SCHOLARSHIP TO ALL THESE STUDENTS, AND WE THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE SCHOOLS THE WAY YOU DO.
WE WOULD LIKE IN HER NAME AND THE MASCOTS TO REMIND US THAT THESE SCHOOLS, OUR GRATITUDE IS ALSO TO YOU AND WE THANK YOU.
DIANA ALSO STARTED THE VERY FIRST INCLUSION PROGRAM OF YOUNG STUDENTS OF SPECIAL NEEDS AT HITCHCOCK. SHE ALWAYS WAS THINKING ABOUT STUDENTS.
ANY STUDENT, WE'D LIKE TO HAVE THIS SCHOLARSHIP GO TO SOMEBODY THAT IS GOING TO PURSUE A DEGREE, EITHER AT A TWO YEAR SCHOOL OR A FOUR YEAR SCHOOL TO PURSUE A DEGREE IN THE MEDICAL FIELD, ANY MEDICAL FIELD, ANY MEDICAL FIELD THAT WOULD RELATE TO DIANA IN HER PURSUIT OF NURSING AND CHILDREN.
TODAY, WE'VE ALREADY RECEIVED OVER 23, ALMOST $24,000, AND THIS WILL ALL BE PRESENTED TO EACH STUDENT AT YOUR AWARDS DAY IN YOUR HIGH SCHOOLS. AND STEVE FLOYD WILL DO THE PRESENTATION.
IN ADDITION, WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CEREMONY IN MAY AND THAT CEREMONY SO THAT WE CAN GATHER ALL THE STUDENTS TOGETHER FOR ONE BIG CELEBRATION.
